South Side Looking To Start Fresh In 2014

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – There’s a new voice and a new outlook at South Side as Roosevelt Norfleet takes over an Archer program coming off a tumultuous 3-7 campaign in 2013.
The Archers season was marred by a fight in week six against Indianapolis Tech that led to multiple player and coach suspensions. South Side coach Eddie Fields ultimately resigned at the end of the season after going 10-21 over three years.
Norfleet, a former star quarterback at Northrop, isn’t new to being a head coach in the SAC. He led the Elmhurst program from 2002-05.
South Side returns just three starters in 2014 – offensive lineman Kyle Reichert, defensive end Trevaughn Williams, and receiver/safety Damon Gentry.
The Archers must replace running back/cornerback Donovan Clark (signed with Indiana University), defensive lineman Nathan Braster (signed with Western Michigan), and quarterback Trae Masten who is not playing football as a senior.
South Side will scrimmage Eastside in Butler next Friday. The Archers open the regular season August 22 at Zollner Stadium against Bishop Dwenger.
