FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Komets announced Monday that Michigan State Spartans leader Greg Wolfe has agreed to terms and has been added to the 2014-15 preseason roster.
Wolfe, 24, completed four years of collegiate action last season with the Spartans in the CCHA. The forward led Michigan State his final year with 13 goals and 31 points in 36 games while serving his second year as captain. Wolfe was honored with his second academic all-conference award and was named the Spartan’s Outstanding Senior and Outstanding Offensive Player. The Canton, Michigan native capped his college career with the Big Ten Medal of Honor for his leadership in academics and community service.
Wolfe also made his pro debut last season appearing in seven regular season games with Reading scoring three goals before skating three ECHL playoff games with the Royals against Fort Wayne.
The Fort Wayne preseason roster grows to 13 players including nine forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender.
Forwards: Brett Beebe, Mike Embach, Angelo Esposito, Thomas Frazee, Alex Hudson, Christian Ouellet, Kaleigh Schrock, Shawn Szydlowski, Greg Wolfe.
Defensemen: Drew Daniels, William Lacasse, Matthew Maione.
Goaltender: Pat Nagle.
Home opener Oct. 18– The Komets will open the 2014-15 campaign with a home-and-home series against the new Indy Fuel. The season opener will be held at the newly renovated Fairgrounds Coliseum in Indianapolis Friday, Oct. 17. The 63rd Fort Wayne home opener is slated Saturday, Oct. 18 against the Fuel at 7:30pm.
Komets to host three exhibition games– The Komets will skate three exhibition games prior to the season opener, all at home on Coliseum ice. The Evansville IceMen will visit for the first two home tune-ups Friday, Oct. 10 at 8pm and Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7:30pm. The Kalamazoo Wings will visit Monday, Oct. 13 for a 7:30pm preseason tilt. All Komet home exhibition games will be held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
