Warsaw man critical after moped crash

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE)- Police in Kosciusko County are investigating a moped crash that left a Warsaw man in critical condition.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, police responded at approximately 5:15 p.m. Friday to a 911 report of a moped crash on State Road 25 south of County Road 250 South.

Officers found the driver, Shannon L. Hursey, 38, of Warsaw, in the roadway suffering from a severe head injury.

Police said Hursey was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he is in critical but stable condition.

The initial investigation determined that Hursey was southbound as he drove his moped on State Road 25 and for an unknown reason struck a guard rail on the west side of the roadway. Police said Hursey was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
