New Haven High school officials have announced that Mr. Bruce Stephens will be the head coach for the varsity boy’s basketball team beginning the 2014-15 school year. Stephens will be taking the place of Al Gooden, who recently took a position in the Indianapolis area. Stephens has been alongside Al Gooden since 1996. He was the assistant boys coach at Paul Harding High from 1996 to 2011. When Paul Harding was redesigned to become a junior high school, Stephens then worked at New Haven High with Coach Gooden. “I’m excited that East Allen County Schools and the New Haven High administrators have allowed me the opportunity to continue the legacy that Coach Gooden has left. We’ve had a great run together and I don’t see many things changing because I was trained by the best. I’m ready to hit the ground running and I know the young men will be ready to do the same. I can’t wait!”
