Jay County Begins New Era In ACAC

FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – After spending the last several years operating as an independent, Jay County will begin the 2014 season as the newest member of the ACAC.

The Patriots finished 7-4 a year ago under head coach Tim Millspaugh’s Power-T offense. Jay County averaged over 300 yards per game on the ground, but star fullback JD Mangas and his 1,803 rushing yards have graduated. Still, the Patriots return 8 players with starting experience on offense including senior quarterback Nick Clemens who was effective in limited use as a passer. The trio of Kaleb Toland, Levi Stant and Drew Huffman will battle it out for the carries to fill the void left by Mangas. Five starters return defensively, lead by defensive end Jon Blankenship.

Jay County opens its season at home against Delta on August 22nd. The Patriots first conference game doesn’t come until a week four trip to Adams Central.
