Terre Haute program promotes good health, combats obesity

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A Terre Haute program aims to help promote good health and combat obesity in a fun and positive way. The city celebrated National Dance Day at a local park on Saturday.

The national program is starting to take place in more cities across America. The program started from a judge from ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’

“To bring awareness to dance and how it’s a great way to exercise and get out and moving,” explained Alysha Kesner, Terre Haute Parks Department. “Dance is good for all ages, all abilities. The dance we have today is good for beginners all the way to advanced. We have young kids, parents, we have all ages dancing. So it’s a good way to get the whole family out.”

Organizers said they’re happy with the turnout for the first year of this event and they’re hoping to continue national dance day in the future.
