Police: Multiple shootings to start weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The start of the weekend was busy for Fort Wayne police. Officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire Friday evening and Saturday morning. The rash of shootings resulted in two people hospitalized from gun shot wounds. The police reports did not indicate if any of the incidents were related.

4700 block of Hanna Street, 11 p.m. On Friday:
Police found 14 shell casings after getting calls about shots being fired in the area. Neighbors told police there had been a shooting near the road way between Pettit and a few blocks north on Hanna.

Anthony Boulevard and McKinnie Avenue around 11 p.m. Friday:
Around the same time, police responded to another reported shooting and found a woman shot in the arm. The woman was driving her car on Hanna Street when she told police she noticed two vehicles chasing each other. Investigators said they found four bullet holes in the back of her car. Officers said the woman was in fair condition at the hospital.

Shooting victim arrives at hospital, around 1 a.m. Saturday:
A man walked into a Fort Wayne hospital with a gunshot wound to his hip. The man told police had been walking though Eden Green Apartments near Creighton Avenue when he was shot. Investigators said the man was in fair condition.

Lafayette and Wildwood Avenue, around 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning
A witness told police they had heard about 20 shots fired. Investigators discovered multiple shell casings around the front porch of a home on Wildwood Avenue. Investigators also found several shell casings in the street in front of the house and shell casings west of Wildwood Avenue and Lafayette Street. Authorities said they noticed several vehicles that had been struck by gun fire.
