FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – Since 2006 Adams Central has captured just one sectional championship. The longtime 1A power hasn’t exactly fallen on hard times, but deep postseason runs haven’t exactly been prevalent either. Fans in Monroe are expecting that to change this fall.
The Flying Jets won four of their final six games in 2013 and return the majority of that roster this season. Seven starters are back on offense including sophomore quarterback Andrew Hammond who was thrown into the fire as a freshman due to injuries.
“We took some lumps and some bruises, but he really grew along the way,” says head coach Michael Mosser.
Along with Hammond, Adams Central returns three running backs who saw the field last season, including Carter Sharp who tallied 442 yards and six touchdowns. All-ACAC selection Koty Frauhiger returns at tight end.
Defensively, the Jets will be just as experienced, with eight starters back. Frauhiger will anchor this side of the football, returning as an All-State selection at linebacker.
Adams Central opens the regular season with back-to-back home games against Bellmont and Eastside.
