Firefighters able to save majority of building

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fire investigators are trying to determine how a fire started at what appears to be a construction company’s property Saturday night. They were called to 6301 Ardmore Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Initial reports from police dispatchers said they were called to the 6200 block of Ardmore Ave.

The sign in front of where the fire was said All Star Construction, but fire officials at the scene weren’t sure if that company owns the buildings involved.

Fire officials told NewsChannel 15 at the scene that they arrived to find flames coming out of two of the four buildings on the property. One of those buildings collapsed.

In a release sent to the media, officials said firefighters used a defensive attack and were able to save two-thirds of one building.

It took firefighters around 40 minutes to get the fire under control. The buildings are considered vacant or abandoned and nobody was inside at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries.

Ardmore Avenue was closed between Elmhurst Drive and Hardrock Road for a little more than three hours.
