FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – Chandler White may have been the star attraction at Carroll basketball games last season – but Kyle Mallers was unquestionably the player that posed the most intrigue. This summer – that intrigue is is leading to attention from Division 1 programs.
The 6-foot-7 rising junior is attracting interest from several schools as a member of the Spiece Indy Heat Under-16 team. Indiana State has already offered a scholarship and according to Mallers, Toledo and Illinois State are both very interested as well. He plans on visiting both schools in August.
With his size, smooth shooting stroke and developing perimeter game, it’s easy to see the Carroll standout developing into a prototypical small forward at the next level. Mallers says he hopes this development, coupled with his presence on a marquee team like Indy Heat, will lead to more offers in the not to distant future.
