FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police said a juvenile is in critical condition Saturday night after he or she was riding a bicycle and was hit by an SUV.
Officers were called to the intersection of St. Joseph Boulevard and Tennessee Avenue at 6:40 p.m. When they arrived, they found a cyclist unresponsive in the road.
Based on witness accounts, police said the preliminary investigation found that the juvenile was riding the bike going east on Tennessee and ran the red light, entering the intersection. That’s when an SUV going south hit the cyclist.
The juvenile was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the SUV was not hurt. The crash is still under investigation.
