2 escape Fairfield Ave. house fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne firefighters battled a house fire early Friday morning.

Crews were dispatched to 5115 Fairfield Avenue just after 2 a.m. and found heavy smoke and flames coming from through the roof of the two-story home.

Fire officials said an adult and child inside made it out safely before they arrived.

Firefighters needed about 20 minutes to get everything under control.

Flames tore through the roof of the home and badly damaged the second floor, according to fire officials. The rest of the home sustained smoke and water damage.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
