NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A man wanted on multiple rape charges is now in custody, according to the Noble County Sheriff’s Department.
Tuesday afternoon, the department asked for the help locating 43-year-old Sylvester R. Slone. Around 8:00 p.m., an update was posted on the department’s Facebook page indicating Slone had been arrested.
Authorities said he has been charged in Knott County, Kentucky with the following:
- Six counts of rape in the first degree
- Six counts of sexual abuse in the first degree
- Ten counts of sodomy in the first degree
Indiana State Police said Noble County deputies notified them around 7 p.m. of an address on Mapes Road near Kendallville where Sloan might have been. A trooper checking on the information was given additional details that Sloan was at a home in the 1900 block of Bodenhafer Drive in Kendallville.
As troopers arrived on Bodenhafer Drive, they spotted Sloan being confronted by Kendallville police officers in the back yard.
Sloan was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Noble County Jail.
Law enforcement officials credit the public with numerous tips to the Noble County Sheriff’s Department which led to Sloan’s arrest.
