AVON, Ind. (WISH) – The 7-year-old boy who drowned Monday in a retention pond will be remembered at a candlelight vigil on Sunday evening.

A Community Candlelight Vigil will honor Javon James Isaiah Shaw’s life on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the retention pond in the Wynbrooke Subdivision. The retention pond is in Avon, a town east of Indianapolis.

The family said all are welcome to celebrate their sons life.

Javon’s family also shared their thanks for all those who tried to save his life, including Officer Jay Barrow and his wife Sherri Barrow.

Javon would have started 2nd grade in the fall. He was the youngest of four brothers.

The community is welcome to come to a public viewing on Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church at 12 p.m. The funeral for close friends and family will begin following the viewing.

A non-for-profit organization will honor Javon’s life to raise water awareness in school aged children.  The organization will offer free swim lessons,  free CPR classes and help educate parents and children about swim-readiness in young kids.
