The detective said Larson was on a motorized wheelchair when he was sideswiped by the train. Police said it’s still unclear how or why he was hit. They didn’t say if he was on the tracks or next to them when he was hit.

Police weren’t sure how fast the train was going and are talking with the engineers to get more information. They did say the train signals, crossbars and lights were working. The train tracks are a Norfolk Southern line.

The incident remains under investigation.
