WYOMING, Mich. (AP) — Police say a pregnant woman missing in the Grand Rapids area has been found dead in a vehicle driven by a man suspected of killing her boyfriend.

City of Wyoming Police Chief James Carmody tells the Grand Rapids Press the driver was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a car chase with authorities Thursday night. Police found 18-year-old Brooke Slocum dead in the trunk of his vehicle after it crashed on a highway entrance ramp.

Wyoming police found Slocum’s boyfriend, Charles Oppenneer, dead Wednesday in a park. Oppenneer and Slocum had last been seen leaving her Grand Rapids apartment Saturday.

Police haven’t identified the suspect or disclosed his connection to the couple. Carmody says investigators were preparing a search warrant for a Wyoming home when the suspect left.
