Fort Wayne woman wins lotto

Robin Holley accepts her prize from the Hoosier Lottery.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)A Fort Wayne woman will be getting $1,000 a week for the rest of her life after winning a Hoosier Lottery scratch-off game. Robin Holley purchased The Cash for Life ticket on July 4 at Columbia Pride in Columbia City, Ind.

Holley told officials with the Hoosier Lottery that her palms start to itch when she thinks she should buy a lottery ticket.

“You don’t really think it’s going to happen, but you really want to win,” Holley said. “I’m excited about this opportunity because it makes retiring in the future a much better prospect for me.”

Holley works for a non-profit group part-time.

Each fiscal year, the Hoosier Lottery contributes $30 million to local police and firefighters’ pensions, and $30 million to the Teacher’s Retirement Fund. In fiscal year 2012, $147.6 million in Hoosier Lottery earnings helped reduce the motor vehicle excise tax by 50 percent.
