Coroner: Hit and run victim died of blunt force trauma

Police on the scene after a man was found injured in the middle of the street.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – After an autopsy performed by the Allen County Coroner’s Office, the coroner determined that Conrad S. Symonds, 46, died of blunt force trauma. However, the coroner still hasn’t released the manner of death.

The man was found critically injured in the middle of the street early in the morning July 16. Police said Symonds was the victim of a hit and run.

Symonds was found lying in the middle of the road in the 3900 block of Shannon Drive at about 5:45 a.m. on Monday. He was found near Neighbor Drive and a pool of blood was found closer to Goodfellow Drive, which was several hundred feet away. A few more drops of blood were found about thirty feet further west.

Symonds was taken to the hospital in critical condition with an injury to the back of his head. Hospital officials told police he had suffered some type of blunt force injury and also had signs of bruising.
