2 teens hurt in apparent drive-by shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Two teenagers were wounded after gunfire erupted on Monroe Street early Tuesday morning.

Police were called to 4503 South Monroe Street a few minutes past midnight after an apparent drive-by shooting.

Police and medics found an 18-year-old and and a juvenile shot in the extremities.

Their names have not been released.

Investigators said they received conflicting information on the vehicle involved in the shooting. The victims told police they were outside a home on Monroe Street when a vehicle approached near the intersection with Congress Avenue. The victims said someone from the rear-passenger side of the vehicle fired shots. The two victims ran inside the home and someone called police.

Paramedics took the victims to the hospital in fair condition.

No suspect information was available early Tuesday morning.

Detectives interviewed possible witnesses and others around the home to gather information. Officers looked around the house and in the street for possible evidence.

The incident is under investigation.
