FWPD grabs two juveniles suspected of breaking into elementary school

An FWPD officer stands watch near Harrison Hill Elementary School as officers check inside the building for a burglary suspect.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Two juveniles were in police custody early Friday morning after a reported break in at Harrison Hill Elementary School on South Cornell Ciricle.

Police were dispatched to the school around 3 a.m. when an alarm company notified an employee. The employee then found at least one person inside the school that didn’t belong, according to police.

A swarm of officers began to canvass the area and were able to grab two juveniles. Officers also moved through the building looking for a third suspect, but found no one inside.

The third suspect remains at-large.

Police said an open window and plywood boards appeared to have been torn away from the building. It’s unclear where the suspects specifically entered the building.

Information on possible damage or items that might have been taken was not available Friday morning.

Harrison Hill is undergoing extensive renovations during the summer. Heavy machinery sits outside and several windows are boarded shut.

The incident is under investigation.
