Driver in August crash charged after testing positive for THC

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  A man who was driving home from Cedar Point when he crashed and killed a passenger in his car in 2013 is now facing charges.

Police say Nikolas Williams was on Dawkins Road on August 13, 2013, when his vehicle went airborne and hit several trees. The passenger, Kayla Yelton, died at the scene.

In August, police said they believed Williams had fallen asleep at the wheel. Lab results later showed he had marijuana in his system.

On Thursday, Williams was charged with “causing a death while driving with a controlled substance.”
