Former IPFW Hurler To Frontier League All-Star Game

Former IPFW pitcher Chuck Weaver has been selected to participate in the 2014 Frontier League All-Star game as a member of the Florence Freedom to be held July 16 at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois, hosted by the Gateway Grizzlies.
Rosters were selected by league managers, coaches, general managers, broadcasters, and media.
Weaver, a Fort Wayne native and Homestead H.S. graduate, earns his first Frontier League All-Star Game appearance in his second season with the Freedom. For the Mastodons, Weaver won six games on the mound during his two-year career. The 87 strikeouts during his junior campaign rank second all-time in school history. Weaver came back to record 69 strikeouts in 2013, starting 13 games, and posting a 2-5 record with a 3.57 ERA.
As of July 7, Weaver leads the Frontier League with a 1.20 ERA. He has a record of 4-1 in seven starts and walked five batters in 44.2 innings. In his first season with the Freedom, Weaver posted a 4-2 record with a 3.70 ERA in 14 appearances.
“Weaver has grown into one of the best pitchers in the league with a combination of hard work and a lot of ability,” Freedom manager Fran Riordan said in a statement by the team. “It’s been incredible to watch his growth from one year to the next.”
The Frontier League is in its 22nd season and features 14 teams stretching from Pennsylvania to Missouri and from Kentucky to northern Michigan.
