NDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Detectives with IMPD say they were contacted by police in Steuben County Tuesday who said they had someone in their custody who admitted to killing a woman in Indianapolis.

Around 7 p.m. Tuesday, homicide detectives responded to the 600 block of West Hanna Avenue and found 48-year-old Barbara McPheter dead inside an apartment.

IMPD detectives went to Steuben County and arrested 48-year-old Jimmie Monday and preliminarily charged him with murder in connection with McPheter’s death.

No other details were released Wednesday afternoon. Police say this is still an active investigation.

Monday will be transported back to Indianapolis and processed at the Arrestee Processing Center.
