Vacant home catches fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of a home that had caught fire late Tuesday morning on Fort Wayne northwest side.

The home, located at 3530 Kirkland Avenue was vacant and had a “for sale” sign according to a press release issued by the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

The fire was primarily located in the attic area and firefighters focused their efforts in that area.

No injuries were reported and investigators have not yet determined a cause. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
