9-year-old seriously hurt in dirt bike crash

BLACKFORD & WELLS CO., Ind. (WANE)  Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a dirt bike accident that resulted in serious injuries to a 9-year-old boy.

The Montpelier boy was riding a dirt bike at a friend’s house Tuesday in the 1500 block of West 1200 South, on the Blackford-Wells County line. As he was riding, the visor of his helmet came loose and fell down in front of his eyes, obstructing his vision. He struck a utility trailer.

The collision resulted in serious injury to his leg. He was transported to Ball Memorial Hospital where he will require surgery. The injury is not life-threatening.
