Summer camp teaches empowerment, healthy lifestyle

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Girls Rock camp is a chance for local girls to learn about college life, academic success and fitness and wellness.

Representatives from IPFW and Parkview Health will show the attendees around the Parkview Women’s & Children Hospital, IPFW campus and talk about suicide and mental health.

Director, Denita Washington, talked with NewsChannel 15 during First News Sunday about the message behind the event.

Organizers ask that campers bring the following items:

  • Twin sheets, blankets, pillow and towels
  • Sleepwear, comfortable shoes
  • Toiletries

The camp is an overnight event on July 25 and 26 at IPFW.

Space is limited for the camp. Registration costs $25 and is due by July 18.

July 14-15, 17-18, 21, 22
