Police: Man found dead with apparent gunshot wound

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  A man is dead and another hurt after an apparent shooting on the city’s southeast side.

Police first responded to a shooting in the 3200 block of South Anthony Boulevard around 1:45 Saturday afternoon. A second call came in right after about a second man lying in the street near Oxford and Robinwood. That’s about a half mile away from the South Anthony shooting. The male victim from that shooting was taken to a hospital in fair condition.

When officers got to the second incident at 3506 Robinwood Drive, they found the second man lying in the street unresponsive. He died on the scene. Police said he may have suffered from an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigators on both scenes are trying to speak with possible witnesses. They don’t know if the two incidents are related to each other.

“Here on Oxford and Robinwood, some witnesses are saying that they did observe a dark colored vehicle leave the scene immediately as the man down investigation was called in. We don’t know if that vehicle may or may not be related. Witnesses just saw it speeding away at a high rate of speed,” Officer John Chambers with the Fort Wayne Police Department said.

The Fort Wayne Gang Unit is involved in the investigation, but there are no suspects at this time. The names of both victims will be released later.
