FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) –  It took seven fire departments to fight a business fire in Kosciusko County Friday morning.

Officials said the employees at Pendry Power Coatings started to smell smoke just after 7:30 a.m. When fire crews arrived at the 275 W and 250 N location, they were able to get the fire under control within an hour. At that point however, the fire had destroyed much of the facility.

Employees told officials that it appeared to be an electrical fire. They initially tried to put it out with fire extinguishers, but evacuated when that didn’t work.

Police said oxygen tanks inside accelerated the fire. The roof also collapsed. Lucky, no one was hurt.

The owner of the business told WSBT that he does insurance, but that “this is devastating for him.”
