TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A Terre Haute man is behind bars after an early morning police chase on Wednesday.

A Vigo County First Sergeant first spotted the Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Anthony Lee Bose, 26 of Terre Haute, at the intersection of Harlan Drive and State Road 159 while on routine road patrol.

Bose was traveling 72 mph in a 55 mph speed zone.

Officials pursued the Monte Carlo and that is when Bose accelerated to a high rate of speed (more than 100 mph) attempting to avoid law enforcement. Deputies also say he tried to ram into their vehicle.

Other sheriff deputies responded to aid in the chase and it was after Bose passed through the location on State Road 46 where stop sticks had been deployed that two tires were flattened and was eventually stopped and taken into custody.

A routine check of the vehicle revealed a 12 gauge shotgun with several shells in the trunk. It was later discovered the shotgun had been stolen out of Gibson County.

A shopping bag also found in the trunk contained an estimated 33.5 grams of marijuana.

Bose was taken to the Vigo County Jail and was charged with resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana, receiving stolen property, criminal recklessness and criminal mischief.
