Monday’s shooting death declared a homicide

One person is dead after a shooting on Pontiac and Weisser Park.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police have released the identity of the man found dead in a vacant lot between two houses Monday evening. Officials say Sean Darius Walker, 18, of Fort Wayne was shot to death.

His death has been declared a homicide, according to the report from the Allen County Coroner, the seventh for Fort Wayne and Allen County so far this year.

According to city police spokesperson Officer Michael Joyner, officers responded to the 2500 block of Weisser Park Avenue around 7 p.m. after several 911 callers indicated hearing multiple gunshots in the area.

Joyner said when officers arrived they found Walker unresponsive between two houses on the east side of Weisser Park Avenue.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Joyner said Walker appeared to have been shot. He didn’t have information on where he was shot or if he was shot at the lot on Weisser Park Avenue.

Joyner said detectives have little information about the shooting and canvassed the immediate area talking with potential witnesses. No arrests have been made and police no descriptions of a possible suspect.

Police said, several vehicles in the area were hit with gunfire.
