Excise Officers Arrest 21 people at Tractor Pulls

TAMPICO, Ind (WANE)  Twenty one people were arrested on 26 charges during a tractor- and- truck pull in Jackson County in southern Indiana Saturday and Sunday.

At the annual tractor-and- truck pull and fish fry fundraiser for the Grassy Fork Volunteer Fire Department, Indiana State and Excise Police officers arrested 14 minors for illegal possession of alcohol. Four were under 18-years-old.

Police charged two people with providing alcohol to a minor.

Police said one juvenile, age 16, was taken to the juvenile detention center on charges of possession of alcohol and public intoxication after a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent.

A 14-year-old boy was cited and released to his parents after police caught him drinking beer and possessing chewing tobacco, according to the police report.

Police arrested Brian Rippy, 30, of Fredericksburg, who they said had two warrants out for his arrest in Crawford County and Floyd County. Police believe Rippy was smoking what appeared to be synthetic marijuana or a lookalike substance.

In addition to Rippy, police arrested another person who is charged of possession of synthetic marijuana or a lookalike substance.
