Voices of Unity departs for NYC, Carnegie Hall

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Voices of Unity Youth Choir departed for New York City early Wednesday morning.

Two charter buses filled with 52 kids and several adults were set to arrive in the Big Apple Wednesday afternoon.

The group is traveling to the Choirs of America Nationals and will perform at the world famous Carnegie Hall. The group is expected to return to Fort Wayne June 23.

Voices of Unity will also perform at the Harlem Children’s Zone and take in the sights and sounds of New York City.

Marshall White, choir director, said the group will make visits to the Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Museum, Broadway, and Central Park.

White said the group will use the nationals performance as a run up to the 2014 World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia.
