FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)- The Allen County Board of Zoning Appeals denied a request for a large chicken farm in the northeast part of the county Wednesday.
David and Leah Wagler wanted to build what’s known as a confined animal feed operation, or CFO, in the 15000 block of Bull Rapids Road.
The proposed CFO did not meet zoning regulations such as acreage and the required distance from other residences, but the Waglers were asking the board to overlook those variances and approve the CFO anyway.
The couple filed the variances on April 3 -when new state guidelines had apparently taken effect- and board members decided Wednesday in their meeting at Citizens Square that they could not overlook those guidelines.
A 30-day window in which the board’s decision can be appealed is now in effect.
