Dwenger Boys Golf Finishes Seventh At State, Homestead 15th

FRANKLIN, Ind. (WANE) – Columbus North took top team and individual honors as the boys state golf tournament wrapped up with the second and final round on Wednesday at The Legends in Franklin.
Columbus North shot 15 over par as a team, beating second-place Westfield by 11 strokes.
Bishop Dwenger (+37) finished seventh while Homestead (+82) came in 15th.
Individually, Columbus North teammates Christian Fairbanks and Michael VanDeventer tied for medalist honors at three under par. Locally, Dwenger senior Spencer Gillig had the best finish, tying for 12th at three over par. Heritage’s Nick Bienz tied for 28th at +9, while Dwenger’s Patrick Allgeier and Callahan Elzey along with Canterbury’s Michael Brothers all tied for 40th at +11. Dwenger’s John Hope shot a +12 to tie for 45th, rounding out the local golfers finishing in the top 50.
