City Council approves new ladder truck for FWFD

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Firefighters will soon have a new ladder truck. City council approved $914,571 for the purchase of a new ladder truck at Tuesday’s meeting for the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

According to Fort Wayne Public Safety Director, Rusty York, the new truck will replace a ladder truck at Station 15, which is located on Northland Boulevard, near Lima Road.  He added that the new truck has very low mileage, as it was used for demonstrations around Indiana.

The old truck was built in 1995.

York hoped the city could get the truck soon, as it’s currently in Indianapolis.

Once in Fort Wayne, FWFD will have five ladder trucks.  The old Station 15 ladder truck, which York said was scheduled to be replaced in 2009, will become the city’s only reserve truck.
