4-year-old dies after being hit by truck

Fatality Scene

SILVER LAKE, Ind. (WANE)  A 4-year-old boy died when he was hit by a truck in front of a gas station on State Road 15 in Silver Lake.

Medics were called to Sand’s Mini-Mart just before 1:45 Wednesday on a report of a truck/pedestrian crash. Kosciusko County Coroner Michael Wilson pronounced Logan R. Heeter, 4, of Claypool, dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.

A preliminary investigation determined that Logan was crossing the street from the west side of State Road 15. Travis A. Woodcock, 25, of Louisville, Kentucky, was driving a 2001 Freightliner flatbed truck southbound when he suddenly saw Logan enter into his path. Woodcock tried to brake and swerve but could not avoid striking Logan.
