Mallex Smith

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WANE) – The East Division All-Stars – including TinCaps outfielder Mallex Smith – managed just two hits Tuesday night, falling to the West Division in the Midwest League’s annual All-Star Game 7-0.
Smith, who leads all of professional baseball with 48 stolen bases, started in center field for the East. He went 0-for-3 on the night.
TinCaps reliever Nick Mutz threw one inning, coming on to retire the side in the eighth. Mutz didn’t give up a hit and struck out one.
TinCaps reliever Tayron Guerrero pitched an uneventful ninth inning, yielding no hits or walks without registering a strikeout.
The East didn’t get a hit until in the seventh inning when Marty Herum’s single broke up the West’s no-hitter.
The TinCaps open the second half of the MWL season on Thursday at West Michigan.
