ANGOLA, IN. (WANE) – Former Bishop Luers golfer Kristi O’Brien is back close to home for the week. The 2011 Indiana State Player of the Year is participating in this weeks F&M-Jr. Achievement Pro Am during a break in her schedule as a pro player on the Symetra Tour – the LPGA’s developmental tour.

Her rookie season on the Symetra Tour is just the latest development in a career that has skyrocketed in the last year. In March, O’Brien appeared in Big Break, a reality show on the Golf Channel pitting several up and coming golfers against one another in a series of challenges for cash prices and a spot on the LPGA tour. Though she didn’t ultimately win, O’Brien says it was a positive experience. Now, she’s making the adjustments to life as a pro golfer with the ultimate aspirations of earning a spot on the LPGA Tour. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
