Mayor’s Youth Engagement Council deadline extended

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Applications for the Mayors’s Youth Engagement Council have been extended to August 4.

Young adult members of the council get the opportunity to be a voice in the community through engaging their peers, creating innovative solutions and working on projects during the 2014-2015 school year.

In past years, teens attended council meetings once a month starting in August.

Tom Henry first formed the Mayor’s Youth Engagement Council in 2010. The first group had 25 high school students. By participating in the youth council, they learned how to become better involved in their community through government and participation.

All applicants must be a city resident, and enrolled as a sophomore-senior for the 2014-2015 school year.

All finalists participate in an in-person interview. Interviews start for the one year opportunity July- August.
