Knitting, games are part of sunrise to sunset fundraiser

"The Longest Day" is hosted by the Alzheimer's Association.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Alzheimer’s Association is hosting “The Longest Day” event to raise funds and awareness for those suffering from the disease.

The event takes place on the summer solstice to recognize the strength of those who live with Alzheimer’s and their families.

Knitting and gaming will be the main activities throughout the day. Anyone that attends cam join the “Knit Wits Team” or “Gamers Team”.

Food, drinks and door prizes will be donated by local business.

Beginner knitters are welcome and can take a free lesson at 10 a.m.

The fundraiser will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 at Kingston Residence of Fort Wayne.

Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.
