Asthma day camp for kids promises fun, education

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Children with asthma are invited to Parkview’s asthma day camp. The Parkview Center for Healthy Living is having a free asthma day camp to help children learn more about asthma and treatments.

Wednesday July 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Parkview Community Asthma Program is hosting the asthma day camp for kids 9-11 years old at the Parkview Center for Healthy Living on 3350 E. Paulding Road. To register for the event click here.

The program will cover how asthma affects the lungs specifically. Children will also be taught how to notice early warning signs of an asthmatic episode, how to avoid triggers, and what to do during an asthma episode.

According to the American Lung Association, asthma is one of the most common chronic disorders in early childhood. An estimated 7.1 million children are currently affected by asthma.
