FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police are investigating a shooting at a home on Francis Street Tuesday night.

Emergency responders were called around 9 p.m. to the 1200 block of Francis Street.

According to the incident report from police, a young man was sitting in a kitchen chair when he heard shots and felt a pain in his head. He ran upstairs and police found him lying in a closet near the master bedroom.

The victim’s mom had left the kitchen table with a three-month-old moments before the shots were fired.

The 18-year-old victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Police have not released his name.

Police report that a witness saw a red car driving south in the alley behind the home at the 1200 block of Francis Street. The witness told police that a man got out of the car, walked toward the home and fired four to five shots at the house.

No arrests have been made and no suspect other descriptions have been made available.
