FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)- A Fort Wayne gas station is getting a new backup generator that should enable emergency vehicles to get gas even in the event of a power outage.

Crews were putting in the generator at the Lassus Handy Dandy at 8830 Coldwater Road Monday. It’s the first of several they’ll be installing at Indiana’s Lassus Handy Dandy locations.

With these installtions, police cars, fire trucks, and other emergency vehicles will still be able to fill up if an outage occurs.

In addition to providing gas during power outages, this will also allow people to still buy food and water and to use working restrooms. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
