One person seriously injured in barn fire

ORLAND, Ind. (WANE) – A barn is destroyed after it was engulfed in flames late Friday night, the Orland Volunteer Fire Department said.

Firefighters were called to the 7000 block west of CR 350 N at 11:30 p.m.

The fire was in full force when the fire crews got to the scene. Numerous pieces of farm equipment inside the building were destroyed as a result.

A neighbor who tried to put out the fire before crews arrived was seriously burned. He was flown to a Fort Wayne burn unit by Samaritan Helicopter.

Another barn was on fire, but investigators said the damage wasn’t extensive.

Investigators said the cause is accidental. They estimate the damages at around $175,000
