Man gets prison time for fatal crash

FORT WAYNE Ind. (WANE)  A man who admitted to causing a crash that killed a woman and injured one man in March 2013 was sentenced to a year behind bars on Friday.

An Allen County judge sentenced Daniel Heffner to six years, one to be served in prison and six to be served on probation. Heffner will be on home detention for the first year of probation.

Heffner was also ordered to pay restitution of about $298,000.00.

Heffner was driving 85 mph, 30 mph over the speed limit, when he crashed in a car driven by Robert Bochus on Tonkel Road in March 2013. The car flipped and rolled several times. Robert Bochus and his passenger, Doris Bochus, were injured. Doris Bochus died from her injuries 10 days later.
