FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)- The 2014 Vera Bradley Classic golf and tennis tournament raised $1,083,629 for breast cancer research, a company spokesperson told NewsChannel 15 Monday evening.

Company leaders said the Vera Bradley Classic is the largest amateur women’s golf and tennis charity tournament in the country, typically generating about $1 million annually for breast cancer research.

The tournament kicked off Friday with tennis at Wildwood Racquet Club and wrapped up Monday with golf tournaments at three different clubs.

The Classic also consisted of two dinner celebrations, two auctions and an annual donor reception.

More than 2,500 guests and volunteers were involved in the events this year.
