Saints, Knights Clinch Sectional Baseball Crowns

GARRETT, Ind. (WANE) – SAC champion Bishop Dwenger held off conference foe Concordia 6-2 to earns the Saints a sectional baseball championship on Monday night.
Dwenger’s Noah Freimuth crushed a grand slam in the top of the third to give the Saints a 4-0 lead. Later in the inning Cody Miller’s single scored Zach Norton, upping the score to 5-0.
The Saints advance to face Norwell in regional action on Saturday, as the Knights clinched a sectional crown by beating Northfield 10-0 in five innings on Monday.
Alex Hunter pitched all five innings for Norwell, striking out four while yielding just four hits.
Logan Dettmer and James Spera each had two hits to pace the Norwell offensive attack.
Norwell and Dwenger play at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the semifinals of the Bellmont regional, following the NorthWood/Yorktown game at 11 a.m.
