Attic fire damages home on Stormy Ridge Place

Crews got the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

Fort Wayne, Ind. (WANE) – A vacant home is damaged after an attic fire Monday morning.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to 327 Stormy Ridge Place around 5:10 a.m. Neighbors reported the fire after seeing smoke and flames coming from the two-story home.

Firefighters determined that the house was unoccupied and were able to get the fire under control in about 30 minutes. Fort Wayne dispatchers said the fire started in the attic, which made it difficult to access and put out.

Officials said the home has heavy smoke damage as well as moderate fire and water damage.  No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
