Sectional champs crowned in baseball

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Several sectional champions were crowned in baseball Saturday night.

In 4A, Carroll advanced with a 7-1 win over East Noble. The Chargers trailed 1-0 until the fourth in. Carroll tied up the game in the frame, and went on score six more runs in the win.

Carroll will face McCutcheon on Saturday at Lafayette Jefferson. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.

Homestead also celebrated a sectional title in 4A, with a 4-3 win over Huntington North.

The Spartans won’t know their opponent until next week. The team is in the other half of the Lafayette Jefferson bracket.

In 2A, Canterbury advanced with a 1-0 win over Woodlan.  Westview eliminated Prairie Heights, 12-0.  Both winners will play in the Whiting regional next Saturday.

In 1A, Blackhawk came up with a 12-2 win over Elkhart Christian.  The Braves head to Caston for next week’s regional. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
