Luers grad hits inside-the-park home run

Kevin Kiermaier

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Bishop Luers graduate Kevin Kiermaier doubled his major league home run total Saturday night, but it wasn’t the traditional home run this time.

Kiermaier, an outfielder with the Tampa Rays, hit an inside-the-park home run during the eighth inning of Saturday’s game with Boston.

Kiermaier has two home runs on the seasons – that’s the only two of his short career – but had a little luck on this play.  Boston outfielder Jackie Bradley, Jr. crashed into the wall during the play.  Bradley was shaken up, but would stay in the game.

Kiermaier and the Rays lost the game, 7-1.
